Vravrona is a very important archaeological area of Attica, known for the temple of Artemis that has given its name to the area. It is built on a creek on the shores of the Southern Euboean Gulf. It was first settled in the Neolithic era. In the time of Theseus (bronze’s period). Vravrona was one of the 20 municipalities that were united and formed the Athenian State. Gradually Vravrona developed into a place of worship of goodness Artemis and a temple dedicated to her was built.
In 1945, Ioannis Papadimitriou, archaeologist, excavated the area. The Excavations continued during 1950s and 1960s and most of the archaeological area was revealed. The most important findings of the archaeological area are the temple of Artemis, the portico in a Π shape, the holy fount, the bridge over the Erasinos river, the gym, the high school etc. The temple of Artemis is a small temple, of which only the foundations are preserved.
In 1961 two votive reliefs of the classical period were revealed in the temple of Bravronia Artemis. One of them shows the goddess accepting offerings from five men. Below the representation begins a multi-line inscription with a list of gifts to Artemis. This column had been used in the construction of the stone-paved road located north of the temple.

Primary purpose of the establishment of Midwives Association of Athens is the concern for the scientific and moral exaltation of the midwifery profession, as well as the establishment of their financial and moral interests.
This aim is mainly achieved by:
Our Association is a member of EMA (European Midwives Association), ICM (International Confederation of Midwives) and WHO (World Health Organization) and represents our country in these Organizations
Welcome to the European Midwives Association Education Conference in Athens. “Midwifery Education in the Future” is the cornerstone of this Congress.
I want to thank the Hellenic Association of Midwives for their commitment in making these days of sharing knowledge worth remembering.
The light of the Greek civilisation has influenced so many civilisations East and West.
Socrates and Plato thought that education led us to intellectual and moral excellence. It was both necessary for the individual and society.
Aristotle had a different view: knowledge is important but virtue lies in the attainment of goodness that can be achieved by training, experience and good habits.
Why am I speaking of philosophers of the past when we shall be speaking about the future of education in midwifery? Their wisdom is still guiding us. In fact, Socrate’s mother was a midwife. After all he thought himself as a midwife of the mind.
The impact of digitalization of midwifery is increasing everyday. It can help us acquire theoretical and practical knowledge. It is undeniable that virtual tools and digital services can improve one’s technical practice and team work. In distance learning, students and teachers can be worlds apart. What will happen next: hologramme patients?
This is what we shall find out during these days together.
Come to Athens to share the incredible power of learning, discussing during lectures, round-tables and celebrations.
As in the past, we will always need to be the professionals able to support women and families -to care and cure.
Women of tomorrow will be familiar with the digital world but they will need us by their side.
Midwives Students will face the challenges of this ever-changing world and they will learn optimism and the strength to face intense situations.
Is the future of midwifery education in the digital world? Are there other pathways?
How can we benefit from technology without losing our humanity?
Dear Colleagues,
With great pleasure we invite you to participate in the 7th EMA Education Conference in Athens, which is being held in Athens, on October 26-29, 2023 at the Dolce Athens Attica Riviera Hotel, in Vravrona.
On this occasion, we will meet again, discuss issues of concern and be informed about the digitization of midwifery education.
The purpose of this conference is to create an arena for discussion in order to exchange experiences concerning the educational options and finally to improve the quality in the different national programmes of midwifery education.
Midwifery educationalists, professional organisations and midwifery practitioners will have the opportunity to attend the Conference, in order to provide an exciting opportunity for increasing awareness of educational issues and developing closer links between different countries and organizations.
We have to be informed about the rapid development of knowledge in our science and the digital evolution in the context of our profession. We have to share our ideas and support midwifery education in Europe in the aim of domesticating digital skills in midwifes
It is very important to familiarize ourselves in the digital evolution of our profession. We have to share our ideas and support midwifery education in the aim of domesticating digital skills in midwifes
I warmly thank the speakers, the members of the local and international scientific and organizational committee, who participate and contribute to the success of our Pan-European Conference.
Your presence will be a great joy and honor.
